RELICT – Dark Ambient & Trailer SFX

Relict is a dark cinematic sound collection and dual Kontakt instrument suite designed for composers working in trailer music, dark ambient and scoring. It combines 229 original WAV samples (96 kHz / 24 bit, royalty free) with two Kontakt instruments that put those sounds into an expressive, performance-ready engine.

The WAV files are fully accessible outside of Kontakt, they can be imported and used directly in any DAW, video editing application, or sound design environment. 

For those working in Kontakt, the two included instruments , Drone Room and Trailer One Shots,  provide deep real-time control over every sound in the collection.

Relict is free. The Kontakt instruments require the full (paid) versions of Kontakt 6.8 or higher.

Both instruments fully support user sample drag and drop, allowing any available sample slot to be replaced with your own samples/audio.

THE SOUNDS

TWO KONTAKT INSTRUMENTS

1. DRONE ROOM

Drone Room is a four-layer morphing engine. Four drone samples run simultaneously, each assigned to a corner of a central XY pad. Moving the cursor crossfades all four layers in real time using equal-power curves. Each layer has independent pitch, filter and LFO controls.

The Animation Path system automates the XY cursor along geometric paths (circle, horizontal or vertical line, diagonal, square) at a tempo-synced rate, turning static layering into rhythmic timbral movement. 

Path size (area), timing (1/32 to 4 bars) and direction are all adjustable in real time to create evolving , intricate sound beds.

2. TRAILER ONE-SHOTS

The Kontakt engine in Trailer One-Shots is tailored for manipulating sounds individually. Samples are selected through a dedicated browser organised by category. 

All the available parameters (volume envelope, filters, LFO, pitch adjustment, playback direction, insert FX) can be independently set per sample.

However, parameters can be made global to affect all samples simultaneously, allowing fast, broad tonal adjustments across the entire instrument.

ADD FX PER-SAMPLE, INDIVIDUALLY

Drone Room and Trailer One-Shots share the same FX architecture. Each sample or layer has three independent insert FX slots accepting the following Kontakt built-in effect:

• Master Compressor, for glue and punch
• Replika Delay, for rhythmic depth and spatial movement
• Convolution Reverb loaded with 187 purpose-built impulse responses, ranging from subtle room signatures to extreme cinematic spaces.

Both instruments support drag and drop, turning Relict into a flexible host for your own sample library.

In Drone Room, the drag and drop capability opens up a genuinely creative dimension. Load four samples that individually might feel tired, overused or unremarkable. The combination of real-time XY morphing and Animation Paths can transform them into something entirely new and unpredictable. 

In Trailer One Shots, drag and drop turns the instrument into a powerful personal one-shot organiser. Load your own impacts, risers or SFX and immediately have access to the full parameter set  (filters, LFO, envelope, pitch, playback direction and insert FX)  in a single unified interface, without the time cost of building a sampler patch from scratch in a third-party instrument. If you work with a large personal library of one-shot sounds, Trailer One Shots gives you a ready-made performance and sound-shaping environment that is immediately usable.
